Hualien, August - As in previous years, Chung Hwa Pulp’s Hualien Mill held a joint Chungyuan Pu Tu ceremony with its collaborative partners on August 15th. After the ceremony, the offerings were donated to the Bethesda Home for Challenged and Adults in Hualien. The donated items included rice, noodles, rice vermicelli, cooking oil, canned goods, and other dry foods. This charitable act has been a tradition at Chung Hwa Pulp’s Hualien Mill for over 20 years, providing consistent support to local social welfare organizations.
In 2024, Hualien was severely affected by consecutive earthquakes and typhoons, leading to significant damage. As a result, many social welfare organizations experienced a sharp decline in external support, and the supply and transportation of goods faced tremendous challenges. Bethesda Social Home has long been dedicated to providing education and rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities, helping them enhance their life skills. By collaborating with the local tourism industry, they are involved in tasks such as folding hotel uniforms, housekeeping towels, and napkins for restaurants. This not only provides the residents with opportunities to learn and integrate into society but also cultivates essential life skills.
However, as natural disasters heavily impacted Hualien, the tourism industry fell into a downturn, causing many residents to lose their job opportunities. Chung Hwa Pulp understands that during these challenging times, disadvantaged social welfare groups need even more support and care from society. Therefore, the company not only continues to donate supplies but also calls on the public to extend a helping hand in this special moment, to collectively support the disadvantaged social welfare organizations in the Hualien area. The people of Hualien have always faced adversity with optimism and positivity, and Chung Hwa Pulp will, as always, stand by them, safeguarding every person in need on this land.
