To encourage various industries to actively implement the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through action, the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) organized the 2024 4th "TSAA Taiwan Sustainable Action Awards." This year, a total of 230 units participated, submitting 507 projects. Chung Hwa Pulp was honored with two gold awards for its initiatives "Bringing Science Education to Rural Areas Through Paper" and "Forests Rely on Pulp and Paper" under SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

In the SDG 4 Quality Education category, Chung Hwa Pulp focused on long-term promotion of rural education. For decades, it has been dedicated to popularizing science education in the Kaohsiung and Hualien-Taitung areas. This includes the "Forest of Life. Sustainable Reading" initiative in collaboration with the Kaohsiung Public Library, which promotes environmental education through activities such as handmade paper creation, wetland tours, storytelling by volunteer mothers, and mobile libraries. The company has also organized the Chung Hwa Pulp Charity Cup for the fourth consecutive year, enabling students to learn Scratch programming and drone computing through competitions. The goal is to continue the papermaking industry's tradition of knowledge dissemination and cultivate the next generation's learning initiative.

In the SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production category, Chung Hwa Pulp focused on building a sustainable "carbon sequestration" industry chain, leveraging its strengths to achieve "negative carbon growth." The company not only addresses the demand for solutions to climate change but also serves as a supplier of green products. In terms of raw materials, it uses its advantage in managing natural resources to obtain "FSC certification," practicing sustainable management of responsible forestry. Internally, the company has established procurement policies that support green purchasing; in production, it recycles waste and substitutes fuel by concentrating lignin (black liquor) produced during the manufacturing process to burn in boilers, replacing heavy oil. For products, Chung Hwa Pulp continues to offer environmentally certified products, creating eco-friendly lifestyle alternatives and providing sustainable new choices for businesses and the public, thereby driving lifestyle transformation.
