In response to the global net-zero transition, Chung Hwa Pulp (CHP) has aligned its climate strategy with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C temperature control goal. In 2025, CHP was honored with the Certification in Net-Zero Progress under the Paris Agreement, issued through the 1.5°C Corporate Carbon Reduction Thermometer program by CommonWealth Magazine. This certification recognizes CHP’s concrete efforts and strategic roadmap in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, confirming that the company’s decarbonization trajectory aligns with internationally recognized climate science.

This certification program is jointly developed by CommonWealth Magazine and leading research institutions, using methodologies grounded in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). By simulating global temperature rise pathways based on each company's emissions data and reduction targets, the program assesses alignment with the 1.5°C goal. CHP’s ambitious yet steady climate actions met this scientific threshold, earning the company this esteemed recognition.

As part of its long-term climate strategy, CHP has also invested in renewable energy infrastructure. A key initiative includes the construction of a high-efficiency biomass energy recovery system, with a total investment of NT$3 billion. This initiative enhances energy utilization efficiency and accelerates the company’s move toward green power self-sufficiency and zero emissions, reinforcing its role as a responsible environmental steward in the pulp and paper industry.
