The award ceremony for the 4th Net-Zero Industry Competitiveness Awards was held today (23rd) at the Red House in Ximending, Taipei. The event was co-organized by the 21st Century Foundation and the Taiwan Economic Development Research Center of National Central University. Marking the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement, the ceremony attracted over one hundred representatives from government, industry, and academia. This year, a total of 116 publicly listed companies participated in the evaluation, spanning five high energy-consuming industries—steel, plastics, cement, pulp & paper, and semiconductors. In the end, 43 companies received recognition, with only 22 earning the top-tier Excellence Award.
Chung Hwa Pulp was honored with this distinction for its comprehensive green transition initiatives. Leveraging the renewable and recyclable nature of its fiber raw materials, the company has advanced full-cycle practices in green energy, green manufacturing, and green products. In 2024, renewable energy accounted for 45.43% of its total energy consumption, while resource reuse and energy recovery exceeded 99%. In addition, Chung Hwa Pulp has disclosed its Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions and established an internal carbon pricing mechanism, demonstrating its commitment to the SBTi science-based targets. These efforts highlight the company’s proactive actions in low-carbon manufacturing, energy efficiency, and carbon reduction governance.
