Chung Hwa Pulp Corporation (hereinafter "CHP") officially received validation for its near-term science-based carbon reduction targets from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) on December 18, 2025. As the first paper company in Taiwan to achieve this validation—which is now publicly listed on the SBTi official website—this achievement marks a significant milestone in CHP's climate governance and its commitment to aligning with the most rigorous international standards.

The SBTi is a collaborative effort between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The validation confirms that CHP’s target setting, organizational boundaries, calculation methodologies, and decarbonization pathways have been fully recognized by international authorities.

Using 2022 as the base year, CHP has committed to the following targets by 2030:

  • Reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 42%.

  • Reduce Scope 3 emissions by 25%.

To fulfill these commitments, CHP will continue to implement systematic decarbonization strategies, including enhancing energy efficiency, optimizing manufacturing processes, and expanding the application of low-carbon and biomass energy. Furthermore, the company will collaborate closely with its supply chain partners to drive collective climate action.

In response to the global decarbonization trend and the increasing demand for transparency within international supply chains, CHP continues to drive climate initiatives in the spirit of a "pioneer in Taiwan's paper industry." Beyond providing green products, CHP aims to establish itself as a world-class sustainability benchmark through its alignment with SBTi, contributing substantial efforts to the protection of the global environment.
