Deeply Rooted in Hualien, Forging Future Tech: Chung Hwa Pulp Sponsors the 7th Pacific Cup × CHP Charity Cup

Demonstrating its long-term commitment to local education and sustainable talent cultivation, Chung Hwa Pulp Corporation (CHP) has once again served as the title sponsor for the "7th Pacific Cup × Chung Hwa Pulp Charity Cup PTWA National Autonomous Vehicle Competition." Kicking off today (the 21st) for a two-day event in Hualien, the competition gathered 158 teams and a total of 474 elite contestants from across Taiwan. Chairman Kirk Hwang personally attended the event to cheer on the participants, accompanied by 15 corporate volunteers providing on-site assistance, encouraging students to embrace teamwork and step boldly into an AI-driven future.

Dual Tracks: Cross-Disciplinary Competition Combining Physical Mechatronics and AI Literacy

Now in its seventh year, the Pacific Cup officially features two main tracks: the "Physical Autonomous Vehicle Competition" and the "AI Literacy Competition." The physical vehicle category includes "Resource Contention" and "Vehicle Defense and Offense," testing participants' hardware assembly, mechanical design, and real-time control. Meanwhile, the AI literacy category features "Squid Game" and "Orienteering Adventure," comprehensively evaluating students' digital logic and programming capabilities. The Hualien County Education Department noted that this year's competition not only challenges technological proficiency but also puts students' adaptability and logical reasoning to the test.

Pioneering the "Alliance Mechanism": Breaking Down School Barriers and Deepening Collaboration

Notably, the finals of the physical autonomous vehicle category introduced an innovative "Alliance Mechanism" for the first time. Finalist teams were required to proactively partner with student teams from other schools to form alliances. This mechanism significantly expanded opportunities for cross-school and cross-county networking while challenging contestants to rapidly demonstrate communication, resource integration, and teamwork under intense competitive pressure.

Chairman Kirk Hwang personally visited the venue to encourage the contestants, emphasizing that artificial intelligence is an unstoppable modern trend and urging students to leverage the power of teamwork. He warmly encouraged the participants: “While there is only one first-place winner in the arena, the most important thing is to compete against yourself and surpass your own limits. Every single student who perseveres to the end is a winner!” Additionally, 15 employee volunteers from Chung Hwa Pulp traveled to Hualien to support event operations, standing alongside the young competitors.

Chung Hwa Pulp’s Sustainable Vision: Cultivating Key Competencies for Future Technology

As a corporate citizen deeply rooted in Hualien, Chung Hwa Pulp has long championed the philosophy of "Green Manufacturing, Local Talent Cultivation" to give back to society. The company stated: “Technology education is the cornerstone of a sustainable future, while teamwork and cross-disciplinary thinking are essential core competencies for the next generation. We are thrilled to sponsor the Chung Hwa Pulp Charity Cup, share in Chairman Hwang encouraging words, and mobilize our volunteer team to help students translate classroom knowledge into practical action, continuously transcending themselves through every challenge.”

The Hualien County Education Department expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Chung Hwa Pulp for its strong support, emphasizing that the competition is much more than a platform for contest. Through the dual tracks of physical mechatronics and AI, paired with the collaborative experiences fostered by the "Alliance Mechanism," the event equips students with the vital competencies needed to navigate future technological waves, nurturing Taiwan's next generation of tech-savvy talent with a broad global perspective and hands-on capability.
